Welcome Back

A big welcome to the new academic year at playgroup!

It was great to see the children returning on Monday morning along with some new faces to welcome in to group; we’ve had a great first week settling into our new routines and are looking forward to a busy, fun packed year!

Our theme this term is Me, Myself & My Busy Body where we learn all about ourselves, our bodies and our families etc, while the weather is still good, we’ll be having lots of outside learning sessions and there’s even a forest school trip later on in the term planned.

Keep an eye on our Facebook group for photo’s of the children having lots of fun, joining in with activities & any news updates too. This year playgroup is looking to start fundraising for some new ICT equipment for the children to use inline with the new Welsh government early years curriculum, if you have any ideas or would like to get involved with fundraising, please speak to Auntie Karen.

** please note the staff training days are set by Conwy council and the school we are situated in may change these, so we will notify you of any changes.

Minibeasts

Our theme this term is all about minibeasts. This is a great way of introducing the children to all the little critters that live alongside us and how we should look after them.

In class we have a selection of critters to look after and study, we’ve adopted a snail from the garden called Fred, ladybirds, caterpillars & a beetle.

We’ve also been planting sunflower seeds which the children will be able to take home later on in the term. The good weather has meant we’ve been able to open the doors and get outside more during the sessions which we’ve all enjoyed!

2016 Update

This term has been a busy, fun packed term for both the children & aunties at Seren Super Stars.

January saw us start the new year off with the theme of Winter Wonderland, with lots of arctic exploring to be done in the role play area and we were the joined by our new class pets, Guinea Pigs that the children named Buster & Squidge, they’ve settled in to the quiet corner, the children enjoy watching them play and some even read stories to them!

February has seen us celebrate Chinese New Year and Shrove Tuesday, the children were able to taste noodles, practice their cutting & gluing skills while decorating the room with monkeys and we had pancakes too.

This term has seen us welcome in new children who have all settled in well, it’s been lovely to get to know them all!

Recently, our role play area has been changed from the Chinese cafe into a medical centre, there’s been lots of fun, administering plasters to each other, wrapping bandages, weighing the dollies & measuring to see who’s the tallest, all part of our current theme of ‘People Who Help Us’.

Christmas Sing Along

Seren Super StarsPlaygroup

On Friday 11th of December we will be hosting our Christmas sing along  (9:15 -10:00 am) with the children who have been practicing and learning new songs this week, we are also busy making lots of Christmas themed crafts for the children to take home.

The role play area has been transformed into a cosy living room area with a Christmas tree, lots of decorations and a fireplace made by Aunty Vicky from the donated shoe boxes.

The children have also had a great time dressing up with the Christmas clothes, there’s been a few Santa’s, Elves and even a Christmas Tree playing in the mornings!!

Thank you to all who donated to our raffle at the school fair, fundraising allows us to invest in new resources for the children, if you would like to get involved in fundraising for playgroup or have any suggestions, please let us know!

We will now be selling raffle tickets for our Christmas raffle to be drawn during the sing along, tickets are available from the aunties in the morning.
